Koukounaries - Birder’s Paradise 

Enjoy birding bliss at Strofilia Lagoon, near Koukounaries. It’s a total haven for birdwatchers and such a serene spot. Don't forget to bring your binoculars and prepare to be wowed by the variety of birds you’ll see. The lagoon is home to some really cool species. You’ll definitely want to look out for herons—they’re pretty common here and beautiful to watch as they wade through the water. Keep an eye out for kingfishers, too. These little guys are stunning with their bright blue and orange plumage, and they’re amazing hunters. Seeing one dive into the water to catch a fish is just awesome! If you’re looking for a tranquil escape, the scenery around the lagoon is gorgeous, with lush greenery and the calming sounds of the water. It’s a great spot for a quiet walk or just to sit and relax while you watch the birds. 

Skiathos Town  - Papadiamantis Magic 

Make sure you spend some time on Papadiamantis Street. It’s the heart and soul of Skiathos Town, a place you’ll absolutely love. The road is named after Alexandros Papadiamantis, a famous Greek writer. The vibe here is amazing—super lively and full of character. You'll find boutiques and shops selling everything from trendy clothes to handmade jewellery and cool souvenirs. It's perfect for picking up unique gifts or just treating yourself to something special. When it comes to food, the street is lined with charming cafés and restaurants, so grab a seat at one of the outdoor tables, order a fancy coffee or a refreshing lemoncello, and watch the world go by. If you're craving fresh seafood, visit a Greek taverna and indulge in their mouthwatering traditional Greek dishes. Don’t forget to check out the side streets, too. They’re full of hidden gems, and there are even more local shops and eateries.  

Kanapitsa - Underwater Wonders 

If you’re looking for an adventure and want to see some underwater wonders, Kanapitsa is the place to be. Grab your snorkelling gear and head out into the shallow waters. You’ll be amazed at how much marine life there is right near the shore. You’ll see colourful fish darting around, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot some starfish or octopus hiding among the rocks. For diving, there are a few spots around Kanapitsa that are just incredible. There are rocky outcrops and coral formations that are home to even more diverse sea life. It’s like entering another world down there. If you’re not already a certified diver, there are local dive shops where you can take a quick course and join a guided dive. Both snorkelling and diving here are such peaceful and mesmerising experiences. The water is warm and calm, which makes it enjoyable. Plus, it’s not every day you get to see such a rainbow of underwater scenery. 

Aghia Paraskevi - Trail Treasures 

Up for some adventure? Go for a hike around Aghia Paraskevi. The area is dotted with some lovely hiking trails that'll take you through the scenic countryside. One of the best things about these trails is the variety of landscapes you’ll encounter. You’ll walk through lush greenery and charming olive groves, and maybe even stumble upon some hidden spots that feel like your own little secret. The fresh air and the scent of pine and wildflowers make the whole experience so refreshing. As you hike, make sure you pause and take in the stunning views of the island. You’ll get some amazing panoramas of the coastline, the sparkling blue sea, and the rolling hills. It’s the perfect opportunity to snap some photos and just soak in the natural beauty. Don’t worry if you’re not an experienced hiker. There are trails suitable for all levels, so you can choose a route that matches your pace. Just grab a pair of comfortable shoes, a bottle of water, and maybe a picnic to enjoy along the way. 

Achladies - Monastery Moments 

You've got to visit the Evangelistria Monastery. It's just a quick 15-minute drive from Achladies, and it's totally worth it. This place is so peaceful and has a rich history that’s super interesting. The monastery is gorgeous, set amidst lush greenery with stunning views of the island. It’s a perfect spot to unwind and take a break. What’s really cool about it is its historical significance; the monastery played a key role in the Greek War of Independence. It’s where the first Greek flag was blessed in 1807. You can almost feel the history as you walk around. The monks there are friendly and often share stories about the monastery's past. Check out the little museum inside — It’s got some fascinating artefacts and old manuscripts that give you a glimpse into the island’s religious heritage. Don’t forget to visit the church, the icons and frescoes are beautiful, and the mood inside is incredibly serene.
