Samoens Ski Holidays

Say bonjour to an alpine treasure cove nestled in the heart of the Grand Massif ski region, celebrated for the longest blue in the country.

This enchanting gem nestled amidst the stunning Grand Massif ski region, offers a gateway to an expansive 265km of pristine slopes and five unique resorts. Whether you're after gentle bunny slopes, adventurous powder-packed peaks, or simply out for some off-piste action in the six freeride zones, Samoëns has something for everyone. Transportation to the slopes is a breeze with the Grand Massif Express gondola, from where you can embark on your alpine odyssey.

The village itself exudes classic French charm, with its central square adorned by profound historical stone buildings. Delight in the epitome of French allure with quaint wooden-shuttered windows, spire-topped turrets, dainty balconies and family-run eateries, each radiating warmth and hospitality. While the village maintains its peaceful ambiance with only a handful of bars, you’re in for a heartwarming vibe and a true taste of local feels.

84 Beginners Pistes

Samoëns 1600 offers fantastic beginner slopes, conveniently accessible via the Grand Massif Express gondola.  Beginners can receive expert guidance in the dedicated area at the gondola's summit, mastering various types of ski lifts before progressing higher on the mountain. As you gain confidence, you'll find delightful blue and green runs weaving through the charming, forested terrain in nearby Morillon, providing the next exciting step in your skiing journey.

44 Intermediate Pistes

This ski area is a standout choice for intermediate skiers, offering a diverse array of runs across the five resorts covered by your lift pass. From tree-lined slopes at lower elevations to vast open bowls higher up, there's an abundance of terrain to explore during your holiday. For those seeking blue runs with scenic vistas, consider carving your way down pistes like Cristal and Serpentine, or embark on an epic 14km adventure on the Piste des Cascades, France's longest blue run, which takes you through the heart of a frozen nature reserve. If red runs are more your speed, don't miss the abundant options in Flaine. Challenge yourself to conquer them all in a single week for an unforgettable skiing experience!

11 Advanced Pistes

For a challenging thigh-burning experience, consider riding the Grandes Platières gondola to the summit. Once at the top, you'll enjoy breathtaking views extending all the way to Mont Blanc along the French-Italian border. Take a moment to capture a picturesque moment before tackling the Grand Massif's most demanding black run, the 3.1km Diamant Noir. If you're up for an even tougher challenge, head to the Combe de Gers bowl, where you'll find the region's most challenging trail, the 2km Onyx.

The Grand Massif offers excellent opportunities for freeriders, especially in the powder-packed Combe de Gers bowl. If you're looking for challenging narrow runs with plenty of trees to navigate, head to the lower sections of the mountain. For wide, open slopes, the bowl above Flaine is a top choice. While a dedicated snow park is not available in this area, you'll find 16 enjoyable zones spread throughout the ski area. These zones include a boardercross course situated above Les Carroz and a thrilling speed run starting from the summit of the Tête des Saix chairlift.

Apres Ski

Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of this fantastic family resort, boasting 15 bars and over 30 restaurants that offer a warm, welcoming vibe. Covey's Irish Bar stands out as a lively hotspot with nightly entertainment, while the Savoie Bar on the main square provides a more laid-back setting for fab cocktails and people-watching. Dining options are mainly casual, although gems like Le Monde a l’Envers are worth a reservation due to their unique twist on traditional Savoyard cuisine. Don't miss the chance to experience mid-ski dining at Giste du Lacs de Gers or grab family-friendly comfort food at Lou Capons near the gondola. The Lac dux Dames leisure center, just a short walk away, provides a serene frozen lake escape for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing along the Giffre valley riverbanks. And between a weekly bustling local market and activities like dog-sledding, ice skating and helicopter excursions, there’s heaps of activities beyond skiing to indulge in.
