Relax on a sun lounger beneath an umbrella as you take in the view of the pristine Monastir Beach and the azure water spread out in front of you! The town is bordered on both sides by the ocean. While there are many water sports to choose from, such as kayaking and boating, sunbathing is one among them. The main resort beach, however, lies west of the town and is surrounded by family-friendly resort hotels, eateries and cafés that you may visit after a tiring day at the beach.
Get your bargaining skills ready, since nothing comes cheap! And try not to get lost in the medina's packed streets while meandering past colourful stalls crammed next to each other, selling Tunisian handicrafts such as ceramics, leatherwork, silverware. We recommend picking up some engraved woodwork sculptures that reflect the authentic craftmanship of Tunisia !
Check out the beautiful promenade that leads to the stunning marina of Monastir. While you're there, why not rent a yacht and take a dip in the refreshing Mediterranean waters? Once you're done with the cruise, head over to one of the lovely restaurants on the promenade where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the marina while sipping on a glass of wine and watching the sunset. Sounds like the perfect way to end your day!
Observe the ruins of the Roman amphitheatre, the largest one remaining in Africa that is approx. 44 Miles away from the city. It's the fourth largest in the world and one of the best spots in the country to immerse yourself in Tunisia's Roman-era history and thanks to the amphitheatre's remarkable preservation, it makes it worthwhile to capture some candid photographs here!
The souks and quaint streets of the medina are a shopper’s paradise! While the district's colourful back alleys are a photographer's dream location. Visit this historically significant destination, approx. 13 Miles from the city. It comes as no surprise that the walls of Sousse's Ribat and Kasbah, are amongst some of the outstanding examples of well-preserved Islamic architecture in the country.
Visit Moknine, a small village that's got caught up in a time warp and decided to embrace it. Everywhere you look, you’ll see colourful buildings with intricate tiles and charming courtyards with vibrant flowers. Enjoy the food, in particular the fresh fish and delicious couscous that will leave your taste buds wanting more. If you're in the town centre, make sure you check out Moknine's folk museum. It's located in the former Mosque of Sidi Babana and definitely worth a visit!
