Wengen Ski Holidays

Swiss allure and family fun in the midst of the dramatic Jungfrau mountains

Wengen basks in the radiant embrace of a sun-soaked plateau, nestled below some of the most iconic peaks in the majestic Alps. Here, you'll find yourself gazing upon the awe-inspiring north face of the Eiger, the regal Jungfrau, and the breathtaking Schilthorn. The incredible skiing mix of blues, reds and the longest downhill World Cup course in the world, is just the tip of the iceberg in this charming resort that has been luring back enthusiastic visitors, including the legendary James Bond, for generations. Its allure extends far beyond the slopes, with superb dining experiences, thrilling adventures, a plethora of activities, and a rich tapestry of captivating history, all coming together to create an irresistible magnet for anyone seeking an unforgettable alpine escape.

16 Beginners Pistes

The resort offers an exceptional and conveniently located “learn to ski” zone in the center of the village. Take the cogwheel train up to Wengernalp and enjoy the views. You'll discover some beginner-friendly slopes where you can hone your skills and bask in the mountain majesty. Even Klein Scheidegg serves up a chairlift made just for beginners.

24 Intermediate Pistes

In the First ski area, you'll find fantastic extended descents from Oberjoch and Schilt, with sweeping views of the renowned Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau peaks gracing the horizon. At Kleine Scheidegg, your choices abound with numerous lengthy red and blue runs, providing ample opportunities to catch sight of the charming yellow and green cog railway making its way up the mountainside.

15 Advanced Pistes

For expert skiers seeking a challenge, there's the renowned Lauberhorn World Cup downhill piste and the formidable Black Rock run, which commences at the foot of the Eiger. For those craving even more excitement, the famous black 'Kanonenrohr' run in Mürren beckons, promising an adrenaline-fueled descent.

Wengen offers a limited number of beginner pistes, with occasional flat sections between runs, making it more suitable for those who already have some skiing experience. If you're a freestyle enthusiast, Grindelwald's White Elements snow park has you covered with its half pipe, rails, wall rides and substantial kickers. For those just starting out, Oberjoch's park provides beginner-friendly kickers, rails and boxes to help you hone your skills.

Apres Ski

Wengen, though not a mega party hub like some Alpine resorts, offers delightful après-ski options. Check out Rocks Bar for sports on screen or hit the dance floor at the lively Blue Monkey. Indulge in culinary delights abound, with Chez Meyer's Le Grand restaurant at Hotel Regina prized for its exceptional French cuisine, or mountain top dining at UNESCO World Heritage site Jungfraujoch and Schilthorn, where the 360°-Restaurant Piz Gloria, featured in a James Bond film, boasts a panoramic view at 2970m. Families can enjoy snowy pedestrian streets, shopping, and treats at Cafe Gruebi. Non-skiers can relish the breathtaking scenery on winter footpaths or snowshoeing trails and toboggan runs are a hit for all ages. January brings the International Lauberhorn Race, a downhill Ski World Cup, while February dazzles with Wengen's Snow Shows featuring jaw-dropping tricks, floodlit processions, and fireworks. Whether it’s the village ice rink, a pamper at the public spa or a Martini with a 2970m panoramic view of over 200 alpine peaks, Wengen is certainly not short of wonders.
